About Me

Hello there! My name is Roberto, and thanks for visiting my site!

Music has been a huge part of my life since I was a kid, and I have always loved building and fixing things, so naturally DIY musical electronics was sort of a perfect hobby. My dad taught me to solder when I was probably 14 and I built my first pedal at 17. Since then, I've learned a massive and priceless amount about electronics theory and pedal design thanks to the amazing and supportive community that accompanies this hobby.

I am primarily a bass player and have a great love for the rhythm section. Because of this, a lot of my circuits are designed to be bass-player friendly. That said, I do also try to make my designs as broadly enjoyable as possible, so guitar players don't touch that dial! You'll also probably find a lot of MOSFETs in my designs, since I find I like the sound of them for whatever reason. I'm no electrical engineer and am still learning every day, so am always happy to chat! You can find me on various music and music-electronics forums as "Silver Blues".

Deep Harbour Devices is my humble contribution to this society. The name is a nod to my hometown of Halifax, NS, Canada, which has one of the world's deepest non-freezing harbours, as well as a punny reflection on the focus on the low-end that comes through in my interactions with music. The logo is designed around the schematic symbols of an LED and a JFET in the shape of a lighthouse, sitting alongside the five lines of the musical staff representing water.
